The Bird and The Bee's Beautiful Music |
|
|
|
|
The duo the Bird and the Bee is made up of multi-instrumentalist Greg
Kurstin and singer Inara George (daughter of Little Feat's Lowell
George). Together they filter classic vocaljazz, lounge music, and
tropicalia through a modern pop electronica sound. And RAY GUNS ARE NOT
JUST THE FUTURE, the group's third full-length release, is even more
ambitious and accomplished than its predecessors. Lush, richly detailed
sonic landscapes create the backdrop for most of these tracks. The
breezy cocktail hour vibe of the Bird and the Bee's earlier work is
still intact, but there's a more complex musical imagination at work in
the programming, arrangements, playing, and songwriting. Yet RAY GUNS
never feels heavy or overwrought. Instead, a bright, sunny feeling
dominates, merging perfectly with the duo's smart, psychedelic pop. Visit the bands website HERE.

Another amazing year for T in the park |

T in the park special 2009 Well that's it over for another year and what a weekend it was, with the rumours of rain, gales and a mud packed Balado flying around we were all exstatic when the sun was shining on the site for the entire weekend. Only in Scotland can you get a suntan and a chips and cheese in a field! The weekend started with James Morrison, Maximo Park, Franz Ferdinand, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Edwyn Collins, Kings of Leon, The View and The Twang Then on Saturday there was more in store with Paolo Nutini, Lady Gaga, Calvin Harris, The Ting Tings, James, Beardyman, Friendly Fires, Katy Perry, Razorlight,
Glasvegas, Manic Street Preachers, The Twang, Dundee's finest - The Law
and The View in action, Also Florence and The Machine, The Specials and Nine Inch Nails! If that wasn't enough for you check out who popped along for the Sunday session...., The Streets, Lily Allen, Blur, Elbow, Doves, Keane, Snow Patrol, Mogwai, Pendulum and much much more. Lily Allen had done 12 festivals in 2 weeks and Balado was the last before a three day break. Lily told the crowd "I'm getting P****d tonight". We did like her quirky little outfit and her fab on stage leopard print hotpants. Our boy Paolo gave a fantastic soulful performance as usual. He had the audience singing along to 'These streets' and had ladies in the crowd holding up Future Mrs Nutini flags....we wish ! Wearing a cute tartan dress, Katy Perry enjoyed a wild welcome in the glorious Perthshire sunshine. Apprantly she only chose her outfit mins before going on stage as she thought it might be a bit too cheesy. Katy rocked the NME Radio 1 stage and said" I love festivals here and I am loving Scotland." We thought you looked and sounded great Katy. You go girl! T in the park, Where the magic happens !
We
had an amazing time sitting in the sun on the grass, sipping Tennants
