Glasgow, stylesalon's home town, is one of the most stylish cities in the UK. And it's not just us that thinks so. Consistently voted as one of the top shopping destinations in Europe, it's home to a host of high street and independent stores, hip hotels and bars. So here's our hit list. It's the low down on some of our very favourite shopping, eating and driniing haunts. And we love to shop, eat and drink. Oh and remember, to find out more info on contacts and locations, simply click on the headings for links. Enjoy!
SHOPPING
Doll Boutique If
you don't happen to live in the fashionable West End, this cute little
boutique is well worth the short hop from town. If Nicole Richie, the
Olsen Twins and the Gossip Girls lived in Glasgow this would be their
favourite shop. It simply oozes style with a small but perfectly formed
stock of finger on the pulse dresses, jeans and tees; statement jewellery
and accessories. Cult labels such as Kova&T, JBrand and Jessica
Kagan Cushman allow you to work that hip LA/New York fashionista look
to the max. Carrie would be proud of you. We Love to Boogie We
love, Love, LOVE 'We Love to Boogie'. A proper little grown-up
designer style boutique, it's all about gorgeous one-off vintage pieces
from the 70s, 80s and 90s. It's light years away from an
'elbows out' rummage around your local musty second-hand shop. The only problem is, once
you get there, you want to buy everything. Recent stylesalon purchases include a fabulous 70s style fun-fur gilet, a John Galliano jump-suit (very, very now) and a stunning lace Prada cocktail dress.
Cruise
Situated on Glasgow's prime designer shopping street, Cruise has been doing what it does best for over 25 years. The flagship store at 180 Ingram street boasts high end designer clothing and accessory collections by brands such as Prada, Lanvin, Gucci, Louboutin and many more whilst across the street at number 223, the more directional Cruise Jeans store has hip labels such as Evisu, Diesel Black Gold and Ugg Australia. Look out for special discount shopping evenings on stylesalon's events pages.

All Saints With its hip looks and indie attitude, AllSaints brings a little bit of Spitalfields swagger to the Glasgow high street. This season it's all about rock inpired tees, sculptural floral-printed dresses and 'western' style leathers and tailoring. And it's all done in their signature palette of grey, brown, charcoal and white. Check out their on-line store. It's one of the very best in the business. American Apparel
It's a worldwide fashion phenomenon tucked away in a modest corner store in the centre of Glasgow. Drop dead gorgeous shop boys and girls work the achingly hip AA look effortlessly - too-tight tees, spandex leggings, and sexy multi-function mini-dresses in eye-popping dayglo colours and basic neutrals. And we can all feel good about ourselves by buying their wares as it's all ethically produced in sweatshop free factories. Sienna and Cheryl are huge fans!
Aspecto This one's mostly for the menfolk but there are still lots of cool brands to covet - Belstaff; One True Saxon; Luke 77; Y-3; G-Star; diffusion Nike and Adidas; Stussy; Alexander McQueen; Paul Smith, Money and tons more. So if he's been really, really good, and you want to buy him a little something special, this is definitely the place to go. Oh and the fact that the shop assistants are all drop dead gorgeous has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Brazen
Brazen is quite simply the grooviest jewellery store in the country. Lightyears ahead of the High Street , Creative director Sarah Raffel's original vision in 2004 was "to invest in the finest creative talent making only the most desireable and striking works". Five years on and the studio has a strong local, national and international profile with distinctive collections and a bespoke service.
Boudiche The girls at Boudiche certainly know a thing or two about foundation garments. This absolutely fabulous
boudoir inspired boutique is simply dripping in exquisite lingerie (Mimi Holiday, Damaris, Elle Macpherson Intimates), sexy nightwear and undie inspired gifts and accessories. Do not be afraid to indulge: [verb] to yield to an inclination or desire; to allow oneself to follow one's will] Go right ahead and splurge on some gorgeous bra and knicker sets for yourself or alternatively, try dropping some massive hints to the lucky man in your life!
Felix & Oscar They call it 'the coolest shop on the planet' . . . okay maybe not the planet but definitely the West End of Glasgow. It's the place to go if you're looking for fun and quirky gifts for pals or even just some fashion and lifestyle retail therapy for yourself. There's a fab collection of Orla Kiely bags and purses, Watcha watches, Cath Kidston and Alessi homewears and they have the very best cards and wrapping paper in town. Their sister store in Cresswell Lane has to-die-for baby and kids clothing and accessories. Mr Bens Named after the cute kids show from the 80s this is a veritable treasure trove full of retro clothing and accessories. Tucked away in King's Court in the Merchant City, a serious rummage could result in anything from a pair of circa 1984 Gina shoes, a mink coat (is it okay to wear vintage fur or is it still a fashion faux pas?) or an original Tootle fringed scarf.
