A

ACCESSORIES

BALLERINAS  Topshop Boyfriend Blazer

  • think the little ballerina; lace, ribbons and ruffles - sweet girllie dresses but all grown up.

BLAZERS

  • steal your boyfriends blazer for the authentic 'boyfriend' look or go girlie with a cropped sleeves version. Black, cream and gray are all key investments.

BOWS

C

COLOURSAccessories Oversized Silky Flower

D  Oasis Print Puffball Dress

DOTS

  • we're not talking Minnie Mouse here! Think classy elegant Upper East side New York socialite.

D.I.Y.

  • if you have the time customize your T-shirt/skirt/sweater yourself to give it that edgy look or if you do not have the time but have the money go straight to Vivienne Westwood the queen of D.I.Y.

EIGHTIES

  • bold coloured prints, shoulder pads, asymmetrical dresses. Oh, come on you remember the rest!

F

FRINGING

  • a must have for leather bags. Subtle fringing on a top is acceptable however all over is a definite NO NO.

  • less about the silver space age look more about daring new shapes. Take inspiration from Roisin Murphy, an uber keen futurist.

G

GOLD

  • get at least one piece of clothing that is gold ... you will be thanking us when you're shining like a star.

H

HAREM PANTS

I

I-D MINERALS MAKE UP

  • So natural and good for you that you can sleep in it and you will not wake you with blemishes. Definitely worth investing in.

JUMPSUITS

  • Don't be scared . . . like Harem pants they are everywhere this year. Stick to dark colours and wear to work or team with loads of chunky accessories for a glam look on a night out.

  • This is Scotland so it's better to be safe than sorry. Layer jumpers over jumpers, cardigans over cardigans, dresses over skirts, skirts over leggings.  Did we mention jumpers?

LONG CARDIES

  • Dress up or down, wear 'em to work or for coffee with the girls, a cardigan is never out of fashion.  Invest in one or more and you won't be sorry. And when (and if) those summer nights come in take a long cardie with you instead of a jacket.

LEGGINGS

  • If you have not already invested in a pair head down to American Apparel and pick a pair with zips ankle to hip, gold snake skin effect or one of the many variations of black, silver or primary colours. And if you're not brave enough, see tips on layering above!

ORANGE

  • Whether its the shade on your lips or nails (check out Mac for the boldest) the highlight colour within your outfit, maybe in the form of a vest top, clutch or wedge sandals.

P

PEARLS

Have them as your buttons on cardigans or if wearing them go in the style of Coco Chanel: layers and layers of pearls (Tip: they must all be the same shade, otherwise it looks odd).

S

SEQUINS

  • We love sequins especially if they are sewn onto a sharp tux jacket either in royal blue or black.

Nothing says summer more than sheer fabrics, here's hoping we get a Summer to wear them . . .  minus the raincoat!
