London Fashion week with KCB |

Just back from London Fashion week where it was a round of fashion shows, parties, late nights and of course the obligatory bubbles and canapés. And just like Oscar Wilde, I can resist everything but temptation. So as usual, I overdosed on fashion and fun. But enough about me, what you all want to know about is what’s happening for Spring/Summer 2010. Well girls, you better get those legs in shape because the mini skirt is still reigning supreme and seems to be getting shorter and shorter. Or maybe it’s just the models’ pins that are getting longer and longer! Leg envy, moi? From Sienna and Savannah Millers’ rock ‘n’roll, edgy Twenty8Twelve collection to Christopher Bailey’s beautiful tailoring and draping for Burberry it was all about exposing lots of well waxed, lengthy limbs. And not an ounce of cellulite in sight. My favourites were from Kinder Aggugini whose collection named ‘The Loss of Innocence’ showed playful juxtoposition of fabrics such as polka dot taffeta with inserts of sheer tuille and lace. It had shades of Marie Antoinette meets Vivienne Westwood.
And the other one was from our own Scottish enfant terrible the one and only Christopher Kane. I managed to have a chat with him at his TopShop launch a few days before the show where he was very composed and in a playful mood helping London’s fashionistas choose day-glo dresses and sequinned leggings. He told me his inspiration for the show was the Brady Bunch! My mind was boggling. The Brady Bunch? Seventies pigtails and wide collars and flares? But no, thank goodness, Kane brought the house down yet again with his beautiful pleated tunics, navy and brown checks and white rose beaded embroidery. So when he said Brady Bunch, I think he means gingham. Tonnes of it! But the highlight of the entire week for me and definitely the after-party of the week was at Pam Hogg. In the subterranean carpark at LFW HQ on the Strand, you could tell something special was about to happen. The celeb count in the front row from Bobby Gillespie and Boy George to Siouxie Sioux, Peaches Geldof and our own Claire Grogan, the atmosphere was electric. The show opened with a near naked Daisy Lowe in a strategically placed piece of black net and lace. Then it was Alice Dulall and Liberty Ross in fabulous tiered tuillle dresses with leather edging. Pam’s ubiquitous catsuits in silver, red and cream Lycra got the crowd cheering. It was all very fashion fabulous. Then everyone went upstairs for the after-party. We were all having an amazing time when the dj stopped to make an announcement “We have a surprise for you!” And out came Jazzy-B and Karen Wheeler from Soul to Soul. To the “Back to life” lyric, the whole dance floor exploded. Suffice to say, the rest I can’t remember. Check out some of the fashionistas who were on the front row of the biggest shows...

KCB attends 'The Ugly Truth' Premier |

Kelly with her good friend Gerry Butler at the premier of The Ugly Truth on Tuesday the 4th of August My friend Gerry Butler invited me to his UK film premier in London this week. It’s not every day your old pal becomes a huge movie star and so off I went to Leicester square to see The Ugly Truth. The place was like a circus. A huge stage and screen were set up outside the cinema with Scott Mills introducing Katherine Heigle and Gerry. Thousands of people and tons of press lined up to catch a glimpse of the stars. As I fought my way through the crowds and heavy security I caught Gerry’s eye on the red carpet and he gave me a big smakeroonie on the lips. That was worth the 5-hour train journey alone! The film is laugh out loud funny. Gerry plays an obnoxious, smug TV presenter and Katherine plays an uptight TV producer. It’s a Rom Com in the There’s Something About Mary vein. I loved it. At the after party at The Dorchester I bumped into singers Sharleen Spiteri and Dot Alison who are also friends of Gerry’s from the old days in Glasgow. We partied on into the early hours with Kelly Brook and a cool new band called Vagabond. Check them out at King Tuts this Wednesday. They’re hot!

Greetings, Styles Saloners, from L.A.
I'm in La La Land on a shoot for a charity project called Safe which is raising awareness and funds to stop human traffiking. We are photographing A list actresses in thier safe places. My friend, Nick Haddow along with actress Emma Thompson came up with the idea after meeting Helen Bamber who is an amazing lady who helps people without a voice. Click on thehelenbamberfoundation.org for more information. The project is supported by Working Title Films and Chanel. I had to stop off in New York on the way to LA to choose the clothes! It's a hard job but someones got to do it.
Photographer Nick is a Glasgow boy with a great sense of humour. We're photographing Demi Moore with her 4 doggies in her fabulous glass tree house and hanging out in Sharon Stones back yard with her kids and we just look at each other and laugh. I suppose you all want to know what they were like? Well, let me tell you - they didn't dissapoint.
These women are quite amazing. They look nice when you first meet them. No make up. Beautiful skin and very, very slim. But then when the expert hair and make up is applied, they slip on the Chanel and get infront of the camera, they transform. They know exactly how to pose, where the light should be, what thier best side is. The camera loves them and they come alive in front of it. You know why they get the big bucks. It was fantastic. Oh and thier houses ain't bad either.
That's the work, the play has been a bit of a bind too. Chateau Marmont for dinner with my friends dj Lisa I'Anson and husband Amos who was in Culture Club with Boy George. They have set up an amazing website called Talenthouse.com. It's a platform for all types of artists to network and promote. I went to the launch party the other night in a Bel Air mansion. It was very glam. Very LA. Amos is a bit of an advertising genius and he is very excited about his new venture. I'm showing him style-salon at the weekend to see what he thinks of our girly site.
My friend Normandie Kieth threw a pool party the other day. Nick and my LA pals from the 80s Marcy and Donya went along. I couldn't believe it. Every girl that walked in was better looking than the last. They were all cool, funny and sexy and I'm thinking you don't get this scene down at Greens pool in Finnieston! Then I found out I was hanging out with the ex WaGs of Puff Daddy or is it P Diddy, George Clooney and Gary Oldman. Only in L.A!

The sun is blazing through the windows of my office at Film City Glasgow and I can’t wait to get out of here. I don’t know about you, but I hate working in an office when the sun has its latest creation by William Chambers on. Which up until this summer has been fine, as its mostly horizontal rain in these parts. But with all this global warming and the Met office predicting months more of this lovely balmy weather, I’m getting worried. I want to down Macs and head for the beach. With my Cosmedix sun block on my face of course. The sun also makes me socialize more. When I say socialize, I mean downing the Rose on the pavements outside Café Zique or Republic West. I tell myself that it is very important to stay in touch with friends. So I give myself time off for this more when the sun is shining. Scotland is so beautiful when it’s sunny. Everyone seems much happier. If we were guaranteed a hot few months every year I think we would all forsake far flung holiday destinations and explore our own stunning country a lot more.
That said, I popped over to my favourite holiday island last month for a bit of sun and fun. My annual pilgrimage to Ibiza is something I am totally addicted to. Please do not ask me to give it up.. I’ve been going there since the first time we wore harem pants so I know it pretty well. I love the north of the island because it is so beautiful. Gorgeous beaches and picture perfect little towns like St Joan and St Gertrudis. Ibiza has a bad reputation but it can be many things to many different kinds of people. It can be as rock’n’roll, hedonistic or as chilled as you like. Me, I like a little mixture of them all. Life….it’s all about balance. Other outings this week were the Edinburgh Film Festival to see The September Issue, a film about Anna Wintour and American Vogue. Check out more details and what I thought of the movie by clicking stylesalon obsession. Kelly and Lisa Cooper in the lovely island of Ibiza
Take That on Sunday were fantastic. Think brilliant man band meets Cirque de Soleil. The boys excelled themselves in their Circus Tour. We watched the show right next to little Leon Jackson, who was even more excited than us girls! Lastly, we here at Hive, don’t like to blow our own trumpet, but we are still basking in the success of our Film City Glasgow launch party last Friday. Everyone had an absolute blast. Lots of people are saying it was way better than a few other big events, which happened this week in Edinbugh and Stirling! Who are we to argue?
