Me and fashion are two words that don’t really fit well, much like nuns and mud wrestling! Every other woman can simply throw on a scarf and look chic, I throw on a scarf and look like a kid who is dressing up for Halloween! I don’t look chic, I look slightly dishevelled. And you know you are rubbish at fashion when Susan Boyle gets a better look than you. I am too old to dress nice. I know I am old as taking my bra off is the best feeling in the world and all my sexual fantasies involve confectionery. I no longer think about stapling George Clooney to the floor, I now imagine him coming to my house carrying meringues with fresh cream and chocolate sauce. I know I need to dress according to my body shape and size, I had a private chit chat with Gok Wan when we both toured New Zealand lately and he told me I should make more of my slim legs had that I had ‘great bangers’ which turned out to be my boobs. I said “Listen mate, a gay man cant big up my boobies, if you can’t operate the machinery then don’t comment on it”

Godley's Fashion Trail Continues... |

My daughter Ashley recently asked: 'How can you write about fashion? How much can you wax about cargo pants and black acrylic jumpers, as thats all your wear!' She is right, of course, but what my daughter doesnt know is that the 1980's called (the world of fashion) and is demanding its' hairstyles, clothes and leggings back into the limelight. Fashion goes round in cycles; perms are in, big shoulder pads are hitting the catwalk and leggings are king. I had all of these things in the 80's. You dont have to LOOK fashionable to be fashionable, is what I'm saying. I am off to LA this weekend and you may spot me at a high powered meetig on the Avenue of The Stars with tuft hair, cargo pants and Amy Winehouse feet. But be aware - I wore lemon jumpsuits when they weren't ironic and I when to ditch a side comb. Bring it on young Turks, I may be old but I don't put my power into my dressing; it all comes from my mouth, and being a comedian and writer, thats exactly where it needs to come from! Must dash - I'm off to pack some black, wet-look leggings...

JANEY GODLEY'S TRAVEL STYLE TIPS. |
|

|
Working and living on the road can be demanding, packing everything you need can be difficult. So many fancy pant designer people keep harping on about the 'capsule wardrobe' - a combination of clothing that can be mixed and matched together until they actually fit into capsules the size of antibiotics! I ain't buying that theory! My top tip for working and travelling on the road is this: never buy or pack make-up. Simply go into a big department store daily and apply the testers from the best of their gear right there under a good strong light. If the scary ladies glare at you, ignore them, and blend, blend, blend! You will always be in fashion and its free!
